Abstract

Kshitimohan Sen and Satyen Sen are the two representatives of two different streams: academic practice on the one hand and revolutionary political activities on the other. This article concentrates on the idea whether these two streams have ever met or not. Kshitimohan Sen, a well known educationist and writer, researched on the spiritual practice of India, especially the Hindu- Muslim combined practice of medieval India. On the other hand, his nephew Satyen Sen, popular novelist, journalist, historian and politician, fought for the liberation of all the people of the society. Though they have followed different paths, yet both of them have found the elements of harmony in Bengali and Indian philosophy of life. Despite the differences of opinion between them, the similarity of their purposes is evident. Finally, this article establishes the fact that though Sufi Kshitimohan Sen and revolutionary Satyen Sen are separate entities, both of them share the common legacy of Bengal.
