Abstract

Bangabandhu's political foresight, progressive consciousness and aspiration for liberation have led the Bengalis on the path of Liberation. Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are synonymous. That is why, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the hero of independence of the Bengali people, is deeply connected with the Bengali culture. Due to gaining a permanent place in the heart of the artists and poets, Bangabandhu has become the central figure of art and folklore in Bangladesh. Bangabandhu has led the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971 only by his strategic politics and the love of the people. After the assassination of Bangabandhu along with his family members in 1975, Bangladesh passed a long decade and a half of military rule. During that time bringing the name of Bangabandhu to light was an almost punishable crime. But even then, the common people remembered their leader through various elements of folk culture. This article provides a keen observation on the voices of the common folk raised in the ongoing research activities on Bangabandhu at the national and international level.
