Abstract

Abdul Hafiz is one of the leading figures in the study and practice of modern and science-based folklore in Bangladesh. He is such a person in the history of folklore arena who has evaluated folklore applying various scientific theories and methods apart from traditional point of view. From the definition of folklore to every detail, various doctrines, scientific research of folklore in different countries, methods of collecting folklore, etc. have been included in his books and articles. Folklore is established as a branch of social science and has links to other branches of social science. Abdul Hafiz has carefully applied theories and methods used in social sciences to analyze folklore. This article is an attempt to highlight those methods and theories applied by Abdul Hafiz for analyzing the elements of folklore.
