Abstract

Dr. Momen Chowdhury is a notable scholar in the history of folklore study in Bangladesh. As an important subject in social science, folklore is involved in many aspects of human affairs. Because, folklore is a powerful means of expressing the innate views of social issues. Realizing the significance and importance of folklore, he concentrated on the collection and scientific evaluation of folkloric elements scattered all over the country. The use of ethnographic, sociological and psychological methods in the evaluation of folklore can be seen in his books and articles. In evaluating and analyzing folklore, he has avoided the conventional path and has played a special role in building the country's folklore on a scientific basis through the use of theories and methods.
