স্তনের ইঁদুর : ফাইব্রোএডেনোমা

Abstract

স্তন হলো রূপান্তরিত ঘর্মগ্রন্থি। বক্ষ এলাকার অগভীর সংযোজক কলার স্তরে এটি থাকে। পুরুষ ও মহিলার উভয়ের স্তন আছে তবে পুরুষের স্তন অপরিণত। কোনো কারণে মহিলাদের যেকোনো একটি স্তনে নির্দোষ (কর্কট নয়) চাকা, আব বা টিউমার দেখা দিলে তাকে ফাইব্রোএডেনোমা বলে। এ ধরনের আবের উপাদান হলো গ্রন্থিময় ও তন্তুযুক্ত কলা। এটার সঠিক কারণ জানা যায় না। অনেকে মনে করেন মহিলাদের প্রজনন নিয়ন্ত্রক হরমোন ইস্ট্রোজেন-এর প্রতি কিছু স্তন কলার অতিরিক্ত সংবেদনশীলতার জন্য এরকম ঘটে থাকে। প্রসঙ্গত উল্লেখযোগ্য, বয়ঃসন্ধির সময় ইস্ট্রোজেন স্তনের নালিকা (ডাক্ট) বৃদ্ধিতে সাহায্য করে এবং স্তন বিকাশে মুখ্য ভূমিকা রাখে। তবে প্রোজেস্টেরন ক্ষুদ্র কোয়া ও দুগ্ধ থলি (লোবিউল ও এলভিওলি) বাড়ায়। চিকিৎসাগতভাবে ফাইব্রোএডেনোমা দু প্রকার : শক্ত ও নরম। শক্ত ফাইব্রোএডেনোমা হাত দিয়ে পরীক্ষার সময় সহজে নাড়াচাড়া করা যায় এবং ধরতে গেলে প্রায়ই তা পিছলে স্তনের ভিতরে লুকিয়ে পড়ে-এজন্য এটাকে স্তনের ইঁদুর বলা হয়। শক্ত ও নরম আব বা টিউমার উভয়ই অস্ত্রোপচার দ্বারা অপসারণ করা হয়। তবে নরম আব বা জলকোষ (সিস্ট) শোষণ করেও চিকিৎসা করা যায়।

The breast is a modified sweat gland. It lies in the superficial fascia of pectoral region. Both male and female have breast but male breast is rudimentary. If for some reason it develops a beningn (non cancerous) lump or tumour in a breast, it is called fibroadenoma. These are composed of glandular and fibrous tissue. Exact cause for this condition is not known. Many professionals believe that the etiology is related to increased sensitivity of some breast tissues to female reproductive hormone estrogen. It may be mentioned that at puberty estrogens produce duct growth and it is largely responsible for breast enlargement. However, progesterone develops lobules and alveoli. Clinically fibroadenomas are of two types: hard and soft. During examination by hand, the hard fibroadenomas are freely movable and it easily slips deep into the breast. Therefore, they are termed ÔBreast MouseÕ. Both hard and soft lumps or tumours are removed by operative measures but soft tumour or cyst can be treated by spiration also.
