বৃক্ষের সশব্দ ক্রন্দন - জগদীশচন্দ্র বসু’র গবেষণার ধারাবাহিকতা : একটি পর্যবেক্ষণ

Abstract

গাছের অনুভূতি অন্যান্য প্রাণীর মতোই অনুধাবনযোগ্য প্রমাণ করে গেছেন বিজ্ঞানী জগদীশচন্দ্র বসু। একটা ভুল তথ্য প্রচলিত রয়েছে যে, জগদীশচন্দ্র বসু আবিষ্কার করেছেন ‘গাছের প্রাণ আছে’। আসলে এটি সঠিক নয়। গাছের প্রাণ আছে আমরা অনেক আগে থেকেই জানি। গাছ অন্যান্য প্রাণীর মতোই উদ্দীপনায় সাড়া দেয়, জগদীশচন্দ্র এটি প্রমাণ করেছেন। তিনি তাঁর উদ্ভাবিত ক্রেসকোগ্রাফ যন্ত্রের সাহায্যে গাছের বৃদ্ধির হার নির্ণয় করতে পেরেছেন। গাছকে আঘাত করলে তার স্বাভাবিক বৃদ্ধি যেমন ব্যাহত হয়, তেমনি গাছ আলোক, বিদ্যুৎ ইত্যাদি শক্তির সাহায্যে তৈরি উদ্দীপনায়ও সাড়া দিয়ে থাকে। সম্প্রতি গবেষণায় দেখা গেছে গাছ শব্দও উৎপন্ন করতে পারে, গাছ কাঁদতে জানে। এটিও নিশ্চয়ই জগদীশচন্দ্র বসুর পরীক্ষার ধারাবাহিকতা।

Sensibility of plants can be felt in the same way as other animals-discovered by the scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose. It is vastly known that Mr. Bose proved the existance of life in trees, which is wrong. ‘Trees has life’ is known well before, but that trees respond to stimulation like other animals is proved by Jagadish Chandra Bose. He was able to measure the rate of growth of plants with the help of his invention Crescograph. Normal growth is hindered if a plant is hit. At the same time, plants respond to the stimulation created by light, electricity etc. A recent research has proved that trees can produce sound and they cry too. Undoubtedly this is a follow-up of the experiment of Jagadish Chandra Bose.
