মধু-মৌমাছি, মৌ-উদ্ভিদ ও পরাগের কথা

Abstract

জীবনচক্রের কোনো এক পর্যায়ে সপুষ্পক উদ্ভিদদেহের পুষ্পে গোলাকৃতির যে আণুবীক্ষণিক অঙ্গের সৃষ্টি হয় তা পরাগরেণু নামে পরিচিত। এই পুষ্প ও পরাগের সঙ্গে মৌমাছিজাতীয় (Bee) পতঙ্গের রয়েছে নিবিড় সম্পর্ক। মৌমাছির অভ‚তপূর্ব সামাজিক জীবন বাস্তুতন্ত্রের সবচেয়ে পরিশ্রমী প্রাণীর কাতারে তাদেরকে রেখেছে। ফুলে ফুলে ঘুরে এরা সুমিষ্ট পুষ্পরস ও পরাগ সংগ্রহ করে। পুষ্পরস মৌমাছির পাকস্থলীতে পৌঁছালে তাতে রাসায়নিক পরিবর্তন ঘটে। প্রকৃতপক্ষে মধু হলো মৌমাছির দেহাভ্যন্তরে প্রক্রিয়াকৃত বিশেষ রূপান্তরিত খাদ্যরস। মধুর সঙ্গে থাকা পরাগের আবরণ নষ্ট না হয়ে মধুতেই থেকে যায় এবং মধুর মান নির্ধারণে এই পরাগ সংখ্যা তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ। মৌমাছির আছে বিশেষ ভঙ্গিমার ভাষা-নৃত্য যা তাদের জৈবিক ক্রিয়াকে তাৎপর্যময় করে তোলে। মৌমাছিরা যত্রতত্র খাদ্যের সন্ধানে ঘুরে বেড়ায় না। কেবল মৌ-উদ্ভিদ যেখানে থাকে সেখানেই তারা খাদ্য সংগ্রহের জন্য বিচরণ করে। পুষ্পের এই পরাগকণা, পুষ্পরস ও বি (মৌমাছিজাতীয়) সম্পর্কিত যাবতীয় পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা ও গবেষণাকেই বলা হয় মধু-মৌমাছিপরাগবিদ্যা বা মেলিসোপ্যালিনোলজি (Melissopalynology)। বর্তমানে মধুস্থ পরাগ-সম্পর্কিত নানাবিধ গবেষণার দ্বার অনেকটাই উন্মোচিত।

The spherical microscopic organ produced in the flower of a flowering plant at some stage of its life cycle is known as pollen grain. This bee insects have a close relationship with these flowers and pollen. Bee’s extraordinary social lives make them among the most industrious creatures in the ecosystem. They visit the flowers and collect the sweet nectar and pollen. When the flower-juice reaches the bee’s stomach, it undergoes chemical changes. In fact, honey is a special modified food juice processed inside the body of the bee. The pollen coating that accompanies the honey remains intact in the honey and this pollen count is significant in determining the quality of the honey. Bees have a special gestural language-dance that makes their biological function significant. Bees do not wander around looking for food. They roam around foraging only where there is vegetation. All the experiments and studies related to these pollinators, flowers and bees are called honey-bee palinology or melissopalynology. At present, the doors of various researches related to honey pollen are wide open.
